Dr. William Russell received his bachelor's degree at Delta State College in Cleveland, Mississippi. In 1969, He received his medical degree from University of Arkansas College of Medicine. He completed his residency in surgery at the University of Tennessee, City of Memphis Hospitals, and a fellowship in cardiovascular surgery at Baylor College of Medicine/Methodist Hospital in Houston Texas. Dr. Russell is board-certified by the American Board of General-Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Russell is married & the father of three children. He has served the community of Shelbyville, Tennessee for over 10 years. Prior to Shelbyville, Dr. Russell practiced in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he was a Professor of Surgery with the University of Tennessee training surgeons. Following a fellowship in vascular surgery at Baylor College of Medicine/Methodist Hospital where he served as professor of surgery for 23 years at University of Tennessee in Chattanooga TN he received multiple awards for his outstanding surgical excellence & teaching publications. Dr. Russell is dedicated to providing personalized & compassionate care to his patients. He is the Director of the Wound Care Clinic at Heritage Medical Center and works directly to achieve a comprehensive approach for advanced healing therapy for his patients. If he's not at the office, he is spending time with his 5 grandchildren, out fly fishing, or with his Tennessee walking horses.
